Procliaming, Living, and Growing in Faith

Educational Opportunities

Children and Family Ministry offers a variety of learning opportunities for childen to learn and grow in their faith.

 K.I.C.K. (Kids In Christ Kingdom)

Kids in Christ’s Kingdom will be offered during both education hours at 8:45 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on most Sunday mornings. Students will have fifteen minutes of music each morning and then return to their age level classrooms for a Bible lesson, interactive activity, scripture verse, and prayer for the last forty-five minutes of each K.I.C.K. session.  Students are expected to bring their Bibles to class each Sunday.  Parents will receive an email each Sunday afternoon letting you know what was taught in class for the week.  You will experience great benefits as a family when you revisit the scripture with your child during the week. K.I.C.K. offering will be taken each Sunday with a portion of the offering going to Compassion4Kids activities.

Last Spring a committee was formed to create a survey for our K.I.C.K. teachers and shepherds. They were looking for feedback on what was working and what might need improvement in our current K.I.C.K. curriculum.  The greatest need was to have a Bible focused curriculum. So taking the wonderful feel back from the surveys, E.L.C.A. lists of scripture for elementary students, and my love of writing lesson plans, we have a new curriculum for the 2009-10 school year!  Every lesson is read from the Bible, and has an age appropriate activity for each grade level written out so that any volunteer can teach a great lesson to their class.

Also note that 5th grade has been added to Children and Family Ministry this year in hopes to best meet the developmental needs of fifth graders. The grade level division matches the majority of the area metro schools elementary to junior high transitions.

    Birth Protocol and Cradle Roll

When you are expecting a child, whether it's a birth or adoption, please notify the church office at 225-8334. We want to help you celebrate your family's new addition. A rose will be placed on the altar in celebration of your child's life. A fellow church member will bring a bag of goodies and information about baptism and Early Childhood Ministries programming to your home.

After your birth protocol visit, you will start receiving mailings from the church. The materials are sent to families during the first three years of a child's life with suggestions and resources for sharing God's love with your young child.

    Communion Preparation Class

Holy communion at Faith Lutheran Church is open to all baptized Christians. We feel it is the responsibility of a parent or guardian to determine when a child will begin to partcipate. The ministry staff will provide age-appropriate learning opportunities on the subject of holy communion to first grade students and their parents, teaching the theological, biblical, and historical aspects of Holy Communion. Completion of these learning opportunities is not a prerequisite to participating Holy Communion.

    First Notes at Faith

First Notes is a wonderful developmental music program for children 8 months to 3-years-old to attend weekly with their parent or caregiver. Classes will be filled with music, movement and child safe instruments. The 45-minute classes meet Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. for eight weeks at a cost of $70. Siblings under 8 months old are free with a registered sibling. Faith Lutheran Church is proud to offer this wonderful music class for parents and their children. Children love music and movement. It is vital for their developing brains. For more information about the class or to register please contact heathervacura@faithlc.org or call 225-4130.
