- Facility Expansion Overview
Ground Breaking Service Held November 9
Braving cold temperatures and gusty winds, many members of the congregation gathered on the ground east of St. Michaels/Hannah Hall on Sunday, November 9. On this spot, our building expansion will be constructed over the next year, providing an additional 13,000 square feet of educational and meeting space for Faith. Brian Hovey began the service with the song “Holy Ground”, prayers for the project were offered by Jerry Waage, Don Beck, Amy Fetters and Lance Noe, and Pastor Dave proclaimed a blessing at which time several members of the congregation turned three shovelfuls of dirt.
This ground breaking represents the realization of a vision for Faith’s physical expansion that began more than eight years ago. Many steps were taken to get to this point and an untold number of people have volunteered their time and expertise to keep the project moving forward. Sincere thanks and appreciation go out to:
- all members who have served on building committees, beginning in 2000
- Jerry Waage for leading us through the duplex purchases in 2005 and 2006
- Lance Noe for his persistence in right-sizing the project in 2007 and 2008
- our staff for sticking with us and never showing their frustration even when they
had to sit five to an office
- the whole congregation for its patience as we worked through the discernment
process
- to Amy Fetters and the 2008 building committee who met weekly throughout the
summer for countless hours
- and to Mike Gaul who has shared his boundless faith and energy for this project
with so many and made us believe that “Its’ Time”!
Watch Faith Weekly for periodic updates on construction progress. The first steps toward grading the ground for the building addition and the parking lot expansion were taken during the week of November 3 when impacted trees were removed. Grading will follow, as weather permits, to prepare the building and parking lot expansion sites. Pinnacle Construction is our general contractor for the project and Don Beck will serve as on-site project liaison for Faith. If you have questions about the construction project please contact Don Beck, Mike Gaul or Jane Turner.
