Summer Programs Overview

Each summer, Faith offers various camps and programs for children. Read on to see what is offered this summer!

Our theme this year is “Crocodile Dock: Where Fearless Kids Shine God’s Light.

 

Adult volunteers: We’re already lining up our adult volunteers. Both teaching and non-teaching positions are available, with a wide range of time commitments. Check out the VBC table in the Commons for the sign-up sheet and more details on what help we need to give Faith’s kids a fun, memorable week.

 

Crew Leaders needed! Faith members entering 5th grade in fall 2009 and older are eligible to guide campers through the week. Please sign up on the Crew Leader sheet at the VBC table.

Campers:
Kids are invited to attend VBC if they will turn 4 by Sept. 15, 2009, through entering 4th grade in the fall.

New this year: Camper registration forms will be e-mailed to families who have a working e-mail address on file with the church office. For families not on file, forms will be mailed.

Download a VBC registration and return it to the church office along with payment. Enrollment is $20.00 per child now through Sunday, May 17. Enrollment after May 17 is $25.00.

Attention, all students who will be entering 5th through 8th Grades in the 2009-10 school year! Looking for a fun way to start your summer? Come to B.B.C.!

 

When:      June 8 through June 13
Time:       12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Where:     Faith Lutheran Church at the Gathering House

Download a BBC registration and return it to the church office along with payment. Enrollment is $40.00 per child. Please return registration and payment to Kala by Monday, June1.

Art and Science
Camps

Faith Kids Camp is schedule for August 3-7. We will be offering Art Camp and Science Camp for kids in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Space and times are limited for the camps.The classes will be filled in the order that registrations are received. To register, download the form and return to the office.

Art Camp 1  Kindergarten 9:00 to 11:45 a.m. (limit 15 students)                                  $55
Camp 1 students will learn about art materials, and beginning art skills.Each day
they will complete a new activity using the skills learned.

Art Camp 2  1st through 3rd Grades 9:00 to 11:45 a.m. (limit 20 students)                    $55

Camp 2 students will learn about a new artist each day and the technique

that the artist used in their body of work. Each student will have a

complete art portfolio by the end of the week.

 

Art Camp 3  4th through 5th Grades 9:00 to 11:45 a.m. (limit 15 students)                    $55

Camp 3 students will work on still life drawings using multiple forms of drawing media. Students will study form, lighting and shading. Students

will end the week with at least one complete formal work of art.

 

Science Camp  1st through 3rd Grades 1:00 to 3:45 p.m. (limit 20 students)                 $55

Science Camp will teach students about physical and biological sciences. Students
will take part in hands-on science experiments daily.

 

*All camps are taught by teachers who are licensed teachers or fall under Faith’s child safety policy.

SummerSongs

 Choir Camp  

 

Heartland Youth Choir offers a Day Camp in early August. The camp is open to boys and girls who have completed grades four through eight.  All singers must have unchanged voices.  The daily camp schedule will include choral rehearsals, music reading classes, folk dance, choreography, and excursions to fun activities around Des Moines.  Registration brochure
